Privacy Policy

Save2Plaud is a courier, not a warehouse. What you save goes straight from your browser to your own Plaud account and never passes through a server of ours. The only things that reach us are your Plaud account ID and email (to check your subscription) and anonymous usage counts. You can confirm all of this in your browser's Network panel.

What leaves your browser, and where it goes

Transcripts, article content, page URLs	Your Plaud account only (Plaud's API on `*.plaud.ai`).
Your Plaud login	Stays in your browser. We never see your password or session.
Your Plaud account ID and email	Our subscription service, to check whether you are paid or in the free trial, and to apply a code if you redeem one. The ID is Plaud's internal user number, which stays the same in every workspace. We keep the ID with the dates we first and last saw the account, and the email most recently reported with it; nothing else is attached.
Anonymous usage events	PostHog Cloud (US), tagged with a random identifier stored in your browser. Never your email, Plaud session, transcript content, page title or URL.
Payment details	Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. We never receive your card or billing information.

What the extension reads

Only the tab where you click the Save2Plaud icon, and only for that click (Chrome's activeTab permission). Depending on the page:

YouTube — the video's caption tracks, in the language you pick. If YouTube's caption service is unavailable, the video's own transcript panel is read instead.
TED — the talk's transcript from the talk page.
Spotify — the episode's Transcript tab, or the caption track of a video episode.
Other video pages — the subtitle track of an HTML5 video on the page.
Article pages (Plaud 4.0 accounts) — the main content of the page, converted to Markdown, plus the page URL.

All of it is sent directly from your browser to your Plaud account. The extension does not send anything to the sites it reads from.

Signing in

You sign in on Plaud's official login page. The extension then works from the Plaud session already in your browser; it does not read, store or transmit your password. The identifiers it needs to reach your Plaud workspace are kept in Chrome's local storage on your device.

Stored on your device

Your Plaud workspace details and a cached copy of your subscription status.
A list of the pages you have already saved (page identifier and the Plaud file it became), so the extension can tell you before you save the same page twice. This list never leaves your browser.
A random identifier for anonymous analytics.

Removing the extension deletes all of it.

Our servers

The only server-side component is a subscription check that receives your Plaud account ID and email and answers whether the account is paid or in trial. No content, page URLs or Plaud data ever reach it.
